Pricing
You'll know the price before we start.
Not an estimate that grows, and not an hourly rate that runs. A number for the job, agreed with you, before a tool comes out.
For most jobs that number comes after a conversation, because a dozen things change it and only some of them show up in a photo. A price quoted without seeing the job is either a guess or padded to be safe. We'd rather look at it and tell you what it actually costs.
How it works
We won't guess with your money
Quote it high to be safe and you're overpaying for our uncertainty. Quote it low to win the job and someone has to eat the difference later. Neither is how we want to work, so we look at it first.
You get the price before the work
We look at the job, then tell you what it costs. Nothing starts until you've said yes. The only jobs charged by the hour are leak investigations, hydro jetting and drain unblocking, where nobody can know the length of it until they are in there.
The invoice matches the quote
The number you agreed is the number you pay. No line items appearing at the end.
If it changes, we stop
Open something up and find a different problem behind it, and the tools go down. You get a new price and you decide again.
No charge for turning up to a quote
On planned work - a replacement, an install, a bigger job - we come and look, and quoting it costs you nothing.
The workmanship is guaranteed for life
If our work fails, we come back and put it right. Parts keep their manufacturer's warranty and we chase that for you.
What changes the number
Where you are
Inside about thirty minutes of Kenmore there's no daytime call-out fee. Further out, travel is part of the job - it costs more to get to, and more to come back to if a part is needed.
Single or double storey
The same gutter, the same roof leak, the same outside tap - twice the height means ladders, sometimes scaffold, and a job that takes two people instead of one.
How hard it is to reach
A tap in an open laundry and the same tap behind a built-in cabinet are different jobs. Access is usually the biggest single difference between two prices for the same fault.
When it has to happen
Standard hours cost less than a Sunday, and a lot less than two in the morning. If it can safely wait until Monday we'll say so, because that's the cheaper booking.
Which product you want
Two units that do the same thing can be hundreds apart on warranty, parts availability and how long they last. We'll price the options and tell you which one we'd put in our own place.
What it turns out to be
We price what we find, not what it sounded like on the phone. Sometimes that's cheaper than expected. When it isn't, you hear about it before we keep going.
The fastest way to a real number
Send a photo of whatever it's doing, and the sticker on the side if there's a unit involved. Most of the time that's enough to price it, or at least to tell you what it's likely to be before anyone drives out.
Paying for it
Card, bank transfer or cash on the day. On bigger jobs there's interest-free instalments through Zip or Humm on approved applications — worth asking about before we start rather than after.
